Discussion seminar: Current Energy Issues in Central Europe

Date and venue 7 December 2015, Charles University - Carolinum
Objective

The energy industry has been undergoing significant changes in the recent years. In particular, the power branch is the subject of fundamental changes both in terms of the arrangement of electricity markets and with respect to changes on the supply and demand sides. One of the key problems currently faced by the electricity markets is integration of electricity from renewable sources into the power market and the related technical and economic issues. What are the main threats and opportunities for energy market in Central Europe? How will the Central European countries (especially the Czech Republic and Austria) deal with the EU 2020 energy policy targets in last five years before final energy showdown? The objective of the discussion seminar is to discuss the particular situation in Central European Countries, recent development and new trends in energy policy and economics.
